Over 9 Children's show

The show for children over 9 years is the natural evolution of our sho for younger audiences.
The show focus more on the music of the Brazil and of its roots that can be traced in Africa, Europe and Native people.

The show always open with a performance of BatukAxé, our percussion group, that brings up the energy and let everybody know they are going to experience something unique.

Following the concert we usually have several workshops for groups up to 20 students; each workshop is approximately 35 minutes in lenght.
In the beginning we talk a little about each instrument played by the group, its origin (with links to the history of Brazil's colonization) and its role within the ensemble.

Each instrument function within the group is highlighted and basic patterns are shown; students are asked to join the group in small groups, under the guidance of BatukAxé members.

Students are paired with players until they can hold their own; at that point more kids are brought in, while the group continues playing, until the whole group is composed exclusively by students lead by Marcus, AfroBrazil's artistic director.
